For her latest body of silkscreens, Benaroya looks to the icons of Old Hollywood. These women are glamorous, with wide eyes and shimmering lips, soft smoke from their cigarettes curling around their heads. Smoking has long been a theme in Benaroya’s work, wispy cigarette smoke serving as foil to the women’s solid and powerful bodies.
